If you are passionate about arts and culture and looking for an internship experience, join the West Kowloon Performing Arts Internship Programme this year to learn about and explore one of the most important cultural projects in Hong Kong.
A unique opportunity for graduates interested in developing a career in the performing arts field. Interns will work closely with professional staff in the Performing Arts Division full-time for a period of around six months. They will gain practical and theoretical training in programming, operations as well as technical arts. This is a paid internship that runs on a recurring basis, with openings every year.
You will be able to
Learn about WestK's Performing Arts facilities and their current development, and gain practical training in daily operations in Performing Arts venues and events
Learn about how to plan a smooth frontline operation with excellent visitor experience;
Assist in collecting feedback from the visitor; and
Performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by the Authority.
You will need to
Be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative region;
Possess bachelor degree or above in Event management, hospitality, tourism, business or related disciplines;
A strong interest in working professionally in performing arts, performing arts venue operations, tourism and hospitality fields
Ideally, some relevant working experience in customer service area;
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and cooperatively with others; and
Have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese
Assistant Manager, Venue Sales and Partnership (Performing Arts)

You will be responsible for:
achieve all WestK Performing Arts (PA) venues - Xiqu Centre, Freespace and WestK Performing Arts Centre - budgeted utilization and revenues target;
hands-on role in promoting WestK PA venues to potential hirers and develop new business opportunities with hirer acquisition initiatives to achieve set KPIs;
communicate and manage relationships with existing and potential hirers;
manage, coordinate and confirm space availability with contribution to occupancy, income and artistic penetration;
issue and process all venue booking related documents;
coordinate with Artistic, Technical and Productions, Venue Operations and across departments for booking logistics and execution;
stay connected with industry and relevant venue partners with access to most updated market information and conditions;
manage and support business projects which include liaison and contractual work with partners and vendors; and
performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by the Authority.
You should:
possess a recognised university degree in performing arts/cultural studies, hospitality/tourism, business management or equivalent;
have 4 years of working experience of which 2 years of relevant experience are in venues, hotels or event production agencies;
possess relevant experience in PA programme operations and have a good understanding of the PA scene in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific preferred
possess a can-do attitude and customer service oriented mentality;
strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationship with existing hirers, potential clients and internal stakeholders; and be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese
Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Corporate Development)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (CEO), the summary of this role:
DCEO(CD) will work closely with and support CEO in the effective management of the organisation by leading the formulation of corporate development strategies to support the Authority's strategic directions and long-term growth;
DCEO(CD) will assist CEO to enhance collaboration among divisions/ departments and create functional synergies to develop and implement initiatives to drive revenue, businesses and commercial activities;
DCEO(CD) will have lead responsibility to drive the development of corporate policies and strategies, including human resources management, central procurement, corporate administration with the aim of taking forward WKCDA's strategic visions and business objectives; DCEO(CD) will have lead responsibility to oversee all legal and corporate secretarial functions of WKCDA and its wholly-owned subsidiaries;
DCEO(CD) will have lead responsibility to manage district operations, with the overall vision for operating the district in accordance with the approved business and corporate plans of WKCDA;
DCEO(CD) will be responsible for the cost-effective delivery of support services for the core arts and culture facilities and coordination with the external service providers to ensure the district operations meet the service standards set by the Board; and optimization of the outsourcing plan and operational strategy in terms of safety and security, facility management and venue operations to ensure the long-term financial sustainability; and
DCEO(CD) will have lead responsibility to oversee the work of the WestK Academy, with the aim of taking forward WKCDA's strategic vision to nurture the next generation of museum professionals and arts practitioners.
The ideal candidate should have:
a recognised university degree with a reputable institution, preferably with postgraduate qualifications;
a minimum of 20 years of post-qualification experience, of which at least 15 years at a senior executive level in a multifaceted environment covering strategic development, financial planning and business modelling;
proven track record in developing, implementing and/or managing large scale arts and cultural or start-up/development projects;
ability to master a broad range of stakeholder relations in both public and private sectors;
gravitas and executive presence to effectively represent an organisation in public;
international exposure, including understanding of the dynamics, politics and challenges of Hong Kong and Asian environment;
strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work with diverse constituencies such as Board members, stakeholders in both public and private sectors, and government bodies, both within and outside Hong Kong;
strong commercial and financial acumen, and a track record of success in business management;
exceptional leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
experience in the arts and cultural environment is an advantage; and
fluency in English, Cantonese and Putonghua is required.
