The Insurance Authority (IA) is the independent statutory body whose principal function is to regulate and supervise the Hong Kong insurance industry to promote its stable development and to protect existing and potential policy holders.

IA now invites applications for the following position:

Manager (Market Development)

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Market Development, the incumbent will assume the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate effective strategies to promote the external image and strengthen the competitiveness of Hong Kong as a global insurance hub and risk management centre

  • Identify ways to facilitate the development of the insurance industry through market analysis, industry outreach and engagement, etc.

  • Maintain regular contact and engage with insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries, industry associations and other market participants to seek inputs and garner support for market development initiatives

  • Other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the market development function of IA

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, insurance, business studies or related fields

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, consultancy/business advisory or public sector

  • Knowledge of the general insurance sector or specialty lines and exposure to international/regional insurance (or reinsurance) markets will be an advantage

  • Proven skills in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, business development and relationship/project management

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English is required; good command of spoken and written Chinese is preferred

Remuneration Package

A competitive remuneration package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications will be offered.

Assistant Manager / Analyst (Long Term Business) (9-Month Contract)

Reporting to Senior Manager (Section Head) / Manager, Long Term Business, the incumbent will assume the following:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform prudential supervision of authorized life insurers through financial risk monitoring

  • Monitor life insurers’ compliance with regulatory requirements under a risk-based capital regime

  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the administration of the statutory functions of IA

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in actuarial science, finance, accounting, business or related disciplines

  • Applicants with less than 3 years’ relevant work experience may be considered for the Analyst post; Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in insurance, finance, accounting or regulatory fields for the Assistant Manager post.

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

  • A team player with the ability to work under pressure

  • Strong command of English and Chinese

Remuneration Package
