Senior Manager - Data Centre Operation (Ref# SMDCO260318W)
Key Responsibilities:
Report to Head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Formulate strategy and roadmap to build, deliver and maintain best-in-class data centre environment for supporting high-performance computing systems.
Develop, implement and maintain governance, policy, standards and procedures in connection with data centre critical facility management and IT operations to align with data centre industry standards, regulations, security safeguards and good practices for hosting high-performance computing systems.
Develop and maintain infrastructure architecture principles, standards and best practices related to AI, enterprise and cloud systems.
Serve as a subject matter expert to provide advice on the data centre operations, site selection, technical and security requirements for hosting high-performance computing systems.
Oversee, manage and maintain data centre facilities including power distribution, cooling, UPS, backup generator power, fire system and water leak prevention, HVAC, structured cabling and computing racks.
Oversee, manage and maintain IT assets and equipment within data centre including processors, accelerators, network, storage and software stack.
Lead day-to-day data centre management and operations to achieve agreed computational performance, scalability, availability, security and energy efficiency.
Prepare and manage data centre operations budget, track expenses, identify opportunities for cost optimization and review operational costs.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the data centre requirements; stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies and regulatory requirements to optimise data centre operations.
Manage and maintain contractual agreements associated with data centre operations, evaluate effectiveness and quality of service delivery, manage relationships with service providers.
Monitor, analyse and report operational and security events and alerts; manage and respond to data centre incidents and breaches.
Assess and mitigate risks associated with data centre operations to achieve business continuity, security safeguard and operational resilience; develop and maintain emergency response plans such as contingency plans for power outages, natural disasters, cybersecurity breaches and other potential disruptions.
Evaluate the effectiveness and service quality of data centre operations, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions whenever necessary.
Prepare management information, key performance indicators and reports related to data centre operations to facilitate management decision making.
Requirements:
10+ year proven experience as a Data Centre Operation Specialist or similar role in a large scale 24/7 data center environment.
Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, engineering, information and communication technology related fields.
Strong expertise in data centre management and operations, preferably in a high-performance computing and large-scale 24/7 data center environment.
Proven experience in managing data centre facilities, infrastructure and IT equipment to support high-performance computing systems.
Experience in managing contractual agreements associated with data centre operations and maintaining relationships with service providers.
Experience in managing data centre budgets, asset and inventory management.
Familiarity with data centre facility management software, security protection and defence tool sets, IT service management platform to maintain data centre operations.
Knowledge of data centre industry standards, regulations, security safeguards and good practices such as Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ISO27001, incident and problem management, business contingency planning, operational resilience and site disaster management.
Knowledge of industry-standard interconnects and network fabrics to support high-performance computing systems.
Knowledge of high-performance computing software stack components such as compilers, runtime systems, job schedulers, and scientific libraries.
Excellent problem-solving abilities to analyse and address complex performance, availability, security and scalability challenges.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and subject domain experts.
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese.
Candidates with more relevant experience may be considered for director position.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Solution Development (50% Insurance sector focus)
Provide technical pre-sales support and solution architecture to enterprise clients across insurance, legal tech, marketing tech, and professional services
Build prototypes, POCs, and demos to facilitate business matching and showcase AI capabilities
Conduct technical assessments of companies and evaluate solution fit for enterprise requirements
Support Insurance sector business leader on technical solutioning and innovation initiatives Ecosystem Development & Strategic Recruitment
Scout and recruit high-potential AI and enterprise tech companies from overseas (GCC, Japan, SEA) and mainland China
Support onboarding and landing of international tech firms across target sectors
Facilitate innovation through technical workshops, hackathons, and industry programs Internal Innovation
Develop tools and automation to enhance team productivity
Support cross-industry initiatives as team expands beyond financial services
Requirements:
Minimum 5-8 years in technology consulting, solution software, or fintech/insurtech
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
Master's degree in AI/Machine Learning or Data Science preferred
Experience with enterprise clients in insurance, financial services, legal, or professional services
Track record in technical pre-sales, solution design, or business development
Background in solution architecture, product management, or software engineering highly valued
Network in Hong Kong and regional technology/enterprise sectors preferred
Technical proficiency in AI/ML, data analytics, and software development with prototyping ability
Experience with modern AI applications, cloud platforms, and technology stacks
Technical solution selling and pre-sales support expertise
Stakeholder management with ability to engage technical and business executives
Strong communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
Project management and cross-functional coordination capabilities
