Development Manager

Canadian International School of Hong Kong (CDNIS) is looking for a Development Manager.

The Development Manager shall develop, implement and manage an annual fundraising programme within budget guidelines; organize a series of community-building events; and build a structure for effective alumni relations. He/she will do so employing best practices and sound development strategies in support of the vision and goals of the school. The Development Manager will oversee the Alumni and donor databases, and engage alumni locally as well as throughout Asia, North America and Europe.

The Development Manager will be a key member of the school's administrative organization structure, working closely with the Senior Administrative Team and with the Senior Manager - Communications and with accountability to the Board Development Committee. He/she will work closely with and develop strong ties with the parent community of CDNIS and will help organise parent volunteer support.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • creating a strategic annual fundraising plan with explicit goals, milestones and time lines;

  • effectively implementing and managing major fundraising programmes and activities which may include capital campaigns, annual giving, special fund-raising projects, signature events, major donor recognition programmes and events, in-kind donor initiatives, and others as directed by the Board Development Committee;

  • implementing and developing strategic plans on alumni communications and alumni support for the school;

  • developing guidelines based on best fundraising practices for CDNIS;

  • organizing and implementing effective events that tie together fundraising, school spirit, and community involvement; and

  • carrying out any additional duties, which may be assigned by the Head of School.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • degree in a related field such as communications and/or marketing;

  • demonstrable experience and success in fundraising, or income generation activity in any other field;

  • evidence of event planning experience;

  • demonstrated success in working as a member of a team, and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers and donors;

  • strong interpersonal skills, accomplished writing and presentation skills;

  • ability to set goals and develop a realistic strategic plan for attaining the goals;

  • ability to represent the school in a positive manner at all times;

  • ability to inspire trust and confidence in working with members of the school community and effectively communicate the mission of CDNIS; and

  • excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Putonghua and Cantonese preferred.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • experience in the education sector as a school development officer;

  • local experience in Hong Kong in a similar role
