Chief Accountant (Job Ref.: CA)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • FINANCIAL REPORTING: Prepare, analyze  and circulate to the Board monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, cash flow statements and financial accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards. Timely submission of returns / financial statements to ICC, LCSD / CSTB.

  • RISK MANAGEMENT: Monitor and advise senior management and the Board on financial risk.

  • TEAM LEADERSHIP: Manage, train, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a strong leadership style.

  • COMPLIANCE & CONTROLS: Implement and maintain internal controls, ensuring adherence to financial laws, tax regulations, and internal policies.

  • BUDGETING & FORECASTING: Support budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and analyse variances.

  • STRATEGIC SUPPORT: Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management for strategic planning and decision-making.

  • AUDIT COORDINATION: Prepare for and coordinate external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided.

  • PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures. 

  • EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS: Develop and maintain relationships with external parties including, but not limited to -  International Cricket Council, Asian Cricket Council, SF&OC, CSTB & LCSD, M MARK, HKJC, Sponsors, China Cricket Association, Banks, Auditors, Company secretary, Vendors.

  • INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Reporting to: Director (Finance)

    • Working relationships : Board of Directors, COO, High Performance Administration, Domestic Operations, Procurement Committee, HR Committee

REQUIREMENTS:

ESSENTIAL

  • CPA/HKICPA Qualification Programme (QP) / ACCA / CIMA/ CA  and Bachelor Degree / Higher Diploma holder in Accounting or Finance

  • At least 6 years’ experience in independently managing Accounts & Finance functions for an organization that includes financial accounting and reporting, cash management, risk management and control

  • In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost-control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Up to date knowledge of current financial and accounting computer applications

  • Knowledge of taxation issues including tax liability management

  • Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections

  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects

  • High degree of personal integrity

  • Excellent written and oral communication including reports and business writing skills, in both English and Cantonese

  • The ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines

DESIRABLE

  • Proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin

  • A good knowledge and experience of sports governing environment
