Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies (APIAS) of Lingnan University is launching a new Chief Executive Community Project entitled “Social Innovation and Socialpreneurs: Smart Ageing with Gerontechnology” (The Project) as supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. This project aims at addressing the ageing issues in Hong Kong by promoting public awareness and application of Gerontechnology, with a particular focus on social innovations and socialpreneurs development.
The appointee has to (i) promote Gerontechnology and Social Entrepreneurship by developing a Cloud-based Virtual Community: Social Enterprise Intelligent Hub (in short, SEI-Hub) for social enterprises, NGOs, project stakeholders, socialpreneurs and the HK community-at-large for communication, information dissemination, project collaboration and resources sharing (sharing economy); (ii) work and collaborate closely with SEI-hub developer to carry out system analysis, design, compile web-site coding, implementing, testing and prepare documentation for the Cloud-based Virtual Community SEI-Hub with emerging web technologies; and (iii) manage user feedback so as to improve user experience by optimizing web-applications on the SEI-Hub for maximum speed, scalability & usability.
Applicants should (i) be a bachelor’s degree or tertiary education graduates or equivalent in computer science, software engineering, multimedia, IT or related disciplines; (ii) have 3-5 years' relevant experience in web site design, develop, operation & maintenance and web-database programming; and (iii) have hands on experience with good knowledge in:
Server side programming and database development: PHP, Python, ASP.NET, Ajax, SQL and database management systems (e.g. MS SQLServer, MySQL, etc.). Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft System Center, and Data Warehouses preferable;
Mobile & Responsive website design: Good understanding of web analytics, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), iPhone, Android, social network and video streaming. Experiences on projects that require multi-devices support (desktop, tablets, mobile phones, etc.);
Resolving cross-platform and cross-browser compatibility issues and design constraints via W3C standards would be an advantage; and
Cognitive and Machine Learning Services (preferable): Knowledge in Microsoft Azure Machine Learning (Azure ML) Studio to enables data analytics & data mining for applications design and develop.
Salary and Benefits:
Commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity. Appointment will be normally made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years.
Applicants should (i) be highly self-motivated, mature with positive “can-do” attitude; (ii) have the passion on creative and innovative ideas; (iii) be capable of working independently under high pressure to meet tight deadlines; (iv) be a good team player with good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese, Mandarin and presentation skills to communicate design process, ideas and solution to stakeholders.
