The appointee will be assigned to the Registration and Examinations Section, and will be responsible for

(a) assisting in daily office operation, such as providing support for counter services, answering simple enquires and handling applications from students;

(b) assisting in clerical duties, such as updating student records and other application documents;

(c) assisting in filing necessary documents;

(d) performing other duties, such as cleaning of office areas, mail delivery, printing and other tasks assigned. 

Applicants should have:

(i) completed secondary education;

(ii) good computer skills (including MS Office, and English and Chinese word-processing);

(iii) attentiveness to details and accuracy;

(iv) good interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure. A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) will be advantageous.

Registry :

The appointee will be assigned to the Registration and Examinations Section, and will be responsible for

(a) assisting in computer systems and related operations of the office;

(b) supporting student registration, course registration and add/drop matters;

(c) handling applications from students and managing student records;

(d) checking graduation requirements and producing necessary reports;

(e) performing file management;

(f) handling other tasks as assigned.

Applicants should have:

(i) completed secondary education;

(ii) Grade E/Level 2 or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (Syllabus B); OR any combination of results in at least 5 HKDSE subjects (including Level 2 or above in Chinese and English): Level 2 or above in NSS subjects, “Attained” or above in ApL subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects), and grade E or above in Other Language subjects;

(iii) fast and accurate Chinese and English typing skill;

(iv) a good command of spoken English and Putonghua; (v) good interpersonal skills and telephone manners;

(vi) proficiency in computer applications (such as MS Word and Excel) and technical knowledge of using software (e.g. Joomla and SharePoint) to update information. Experience in managing websites is preferred.

Technician (Ref. 1900002E) (Closing date: February 8, 2019)

School of Architecture:

The School of Architecture is looking for a Technician to expand its digital design and fabrication team. The Fabrication Lab is an ongoing project that will continue to gain sophistication throughout the coming years.

The appointee will be responsible for

(a) providing support for the use of fabrication tools in study, teaching and research;

(b) providing support for installation and maintenance of fabrication machinery;

(c) ensuring the adherence of safety standards within the fabrication lab;

(d) conducting trainings for students and Faculty to use machines in a safe and responsible manner;

(e) managing the logistics and schedule of the fabrication machine usage in a fair manner;

(f) co-ordinating with students and Faculty to maximise the safe use of the fabrication lab at peak times of the student calendar;

(g) participating in regular meetings with the IT committee for the Lab expansion and effectiveness as a teaching and learning tool. Shift duties and working beyond normal office hour may be required from time to time, subject to the needs of the School. 

Applicants should have/be:

(i) a Bachelor’s degree/Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in a relevant subject from a recognised university or a technical institute; OR a Diploma/Certificate in a relevant subject from a recognised university or a technical institute, plus 3 years’ relevant post-qualification work experience at an appropriate level;

(ii) good knowledge of the use and capabilities for various CNC fabrication hardware, such as laser cutters, 3- and 5-axis mills, 3D printers in parallel to traditional analogue hardware tools;

(iii) working knowledge of digital software required to run CNC machines (Rhino, AutoCAD, GCode, RhinoCAM, etc.);

(iv) excellent communication skills in English and Chinese; (v) a strong sense of responsibility, a positive and proactive attitude, and team spirit to work along with other colleagues;

(vi) hardworking, mature, self-motivated, well-organised, independent, and able to work efficiently under pressure;

(vii) an interest in new technology and its potential use for use of students, teaching and research-based projects. Background in design, woodworking or architecture, and experience in digital design and fabrication will be advantageous.

Appointment will be made on a 1- or 2-year contract (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract), renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
